HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A P.G.O.M.!
Couldn’t let today go by without wishing a very Happy Birthday to Mr. HCB, my wonderful husband, willing - although not always - super model, gardener extraordinaire, cricket-lover, great washer-upper, and with many other attributes too many to mention - oh and in his own words, “a Practising Grumpy Old Man”!
Actually, you couldn’t meet a less grumpy old man than Mr. HCB - in fact, he is the total opposite. He is kind, gentle, thoughtful, hard-working, sometimes annoying, and happy and smiling most of the time, so I hope he has a great day today - I think he looks great for 82!
He has enjoyed opening his cards - three from me, as we both keep cards and alternate them - “why spend more money when the cards you have sent before say all you want to say?” is our maxim. Another recycled one from our lovely neighbours, Lynn and Mike, and others too, all with very kind words inside. I even kept one from our younger son from 15 years ago, which played a tune “Super Dad” and of course, Mr. HCB is also that, as well as a wonderful Granddad! He won’t like all this “guff” as he would call it, but sometimes it just has to be done and what better day than a birthday?
He insisted on putting his Tilley hat on, his "trademark" even though the photograph was taken indoors and says that his biggest job for the day is keeping the huge bar of chocolate away from me - anyone would think I was a chocoholic!
You might be interested to know that the book Mr. HCB is holding - given to him by a Blip friend - “Hooked on Asia”was written by a friend who used to live in Swindon - and incidentally was in my Sunday School class when he was younger - but now lives in Hong Kong and who showed us around for a day when we went there in 2018.
We are meeting some friends for lunch at Jack’s but think we may have to dodge the April showers - interestingly, the Bible verse on our calendar for today says, “There will be showers of blessing”! Ezekiel 34:26.
