Earthly Encounters with Begonias
Summer camp started yesterday. A zillion small people invading campus every day throughout July and August led by a team of energetic and exuberant twenty somethings mostly from the US. This year they are not using the gardens next to my flat for which I am extremely grateful after last year's daily wake up call of "Simon Says" at 8am.
Anyway, the point of today's photo - as a campus resident, I received the following email earlier tonight: "RCSummer's 2013 Community Explorers project "Earthly Encounters" has started today on campus. All the participants brought in a recycled object and planted Begonias in them. Tomorrow they will be going to different parts of the city (of Istanbul) to gift them." Nothing else to do, I went to have a look at all these planted flowers in unlikely plant holders - of which this is one :) Now that's imaginative recycling. Grow on!
Meanwhile, was bored beyond belief most of today and realised when these Begonias were the highlight of my day that I really do need to get out of here - almost everyone else already has.
