I’m coming across friends and colleagues in their 30s and 40s who are experiencing their first ever aura migraine. They are finding it quite terrifying (my husband and my brother) but when it’s explained what it is they calm and let it ride it out.

This week I met someone who told me she has a range of visuals she used to explain to people what it looks like to have an aura migraine and I thought this was a great idea as it’s super difficult to explain to none who hasn’t experienced it. I always say it’s like seeing that black and white square that used to flicker in the corner of the screen when you watched TV before it changed to adverts. I get 20-30 mins of this and then a bad headache for about 7 hours. As I’ve got older I’ve learned how to manage it using things like magnesium, feverfew, extra water and other things.

This visual is a great representation and helpful to show people if you find yourself in a difficult situation and need help/ a dark room.
