Caching

Earlier this afternoon I watched this male downy woodpecker caching a peanut in a crevice in the bark of the maple tree that the feeders hang from.

Top left: hammering it in
Top right: finished
Bottom left: moving away (you can see the peanut below and to the right)
Bottom right: back to the feeder for another one

I just looked and it's still there (after about two or three hours!)
