Stormy
Turned out much nicer than forecast with just a few hours of rain in the afternoon. It was a great excuse for a day off the bikes though and an explore of Girona.
We happened across steps up to the old wall and began the morning with a wonderful panorama of the different directions we’d cycled in, seeing the valley from the first day and the masts atop Rocacorba on the second day standing out in the sunshine. I’ll come back to the latter!
We headed for La Fabrica, the cycle café, where we sat indoors and admired all the old memorabilia over coffee and avocado toast. Next up was a quick tour of the cathedral which was most impressive for being on its third iteration. I liked how they’ve created miniature scale models so you can see each phase. The sun was out now so we went for another drink before Rich headed in to the art gallery and I sat outside in the sun watching Rocacorba very slowly become blanketed in black menacing clouds (just left of the spire). We had a plan to meet if it started to rain but luckily it held off just long enough for Rich to re-emerge and us to dash indoors for lunch.
I was expecting the day to go a bit slowly but by the time we’d finished, we were on the 3.30 bus back. Time to chill. Rich has confessed to feeling a cold, or something, coming on. Hopefully, he’s OK for our last ride!
