Woodpecker

My lucky day.

I went over to RSPB reserve at Middleton Lakes to see the activity in the Heronry. There were lots, nest building, supervising chicks, and just flying about.

They’ve mended the area where you can sit so I headed off, via the feeders.

Woody was just there. I had him to myself so I stopped awhile and enjoyed it.

Further into the reserve a young couple from Manchester and I heard a very noisy woodpecker. We couldn’t see it but knew pretty well where it was. Merlin could hear him too……a Lesser Spotted Woodpecker.  (It would have been nice to see him too but maybe next time.)
