SAVED BY THE BELL

Whatever it was that got hold of Freddie the cat, bit into the bell on his collar. There is another dent on the other side. If it had not been for the bell I can only imagine the cuts around his neck would be a lot worse, or even fatal. I've no idea what got him, though I can't imagine another cat would have been able to chomp through metal like that. The neighbour's lawn, where the collar was found, is carpeted in enough of Fred's fur to stuff a cushion, and yet it is just fur, no skin attached. All very strange, and no doubt we will never know the truth.

Fred is not happy to now be wearing collar number 21.
