Costa Rica Day 8 - Monteverde to Manuel Antonio

We left Monteverde this morning and went at a leisurely pace down the continental divide to the Pacific side.   At first it was these rolling hills as in the main and if you look closely you can see the Pacific ocean.   As we got lower down it got hotter and the traffic became busier.  We drove along the Pan American highway for a while and stopped at a roadside station for lunch.

We crossed the Tarcoles river where there were a number of crocodiles waiting for people to fall off the bridge.  (First extra)  I felt like captain Hook.  We got closer to the coast and then came across beaches with coconut palms and passed through little townships with people going about their business.

As we got closer to Manuel Antonio it started raining (well of course it would it has been following us around since La Fortuna).  It has a very beachy touristy feel to it with lots of restaurants that look over the sea.  We are here for the national park though.  Already we have seen from the balcony in the hotel white faced monkeys, spider monkeys, white tailed deer.  I forgot to mention that we were entertained by some Coati's at breakfast this morning who were investigating a big fig tree nearby.  There was also a sighting of a toucanet but I have no evidence of it.

It's been a long day and drive so I will say goodnight.  Many thanks for all your kind words regarding Maggy and the sprinkling of gifts
