Pieris (Flame of the forest)

  Although an "evergreen" the vibrant red coloured leaves in Spring will eventually turn to pink and cream. Preferring a shady position it grows well at the back of the shrubbery. An absolutely foul day with which fog/mist and rain which coincided with a lunch with 5 former colleagues at a Dartmoor pub. Our first choice high in the Tamar valley had to be abandoned this morning as the route to be taken by most of us involved crossing an ancient bridge built circa 1520 which was damaged last night and promptly closed; the suggested much longer diversion was not thought practical.
Oh, and by the way, I seemed to have clocked up 11 years of blip today, so thank you to all followers and others for your support and encouragement during this time
