Our big heat has arrived. I moved into the downstairs bedroom last night as the upstairs was still way too hot for sleeping when I was ready to retire for the night. I have air conditioning but never use it. Our hot days are never many now. I can wait it out downstairs. This way I can still hear the birds in the morning.

In the last summer my husband had at home with us, this room became my "panic room". I could lock the door at night and get some sleep. The telephone was handy in case I needed to call someone.

Today is Canada Day. There are big celebrations everywhere. It's too hot for me in the downtown park. It will have to go on without me. There will be no cruisin'! Perhaps I can catch the fireworks tonight after dark.
