Westbury Court Garden

We felt the effects of the latest storm 'Kathleen' but decided to brave the elements and did our default thing of finding a National Trust property to view. Off we went to Westbury Court Garden. near Gloucester. 'A formal Dutch Water Garden laid out between 1696 and 1705 and created by the owner of the Westbury Court, which sadly is no longer standing. Some of its main features are: Dutch Pavilion with great views over the garden, magnificent canals, main canal being 450ft long, historic borders, traditional planting scheme, historical apple and plum espalier trees and an ancient Holm Oak - 9 metres girth.'

No house to get warm in but the garden was truly lovely. A lot of work being undertaken on the main canal so couldn't get any good photos and photographing plants in the high wind was a bit of a challenge!

On the way back we stopped off at Gloucester Docks. I was glad to see they were much cleaner and livelier than the last time I visited.

Homeward bound tomorrow, hope the wind is less keen.
