Māngungu Mission House

.where the Methodist Church started in NZ. It is where the third and biggest signing of the Treaty of Waitangi our country’s founding document, took place on 12th February 1840. The extra is a view from the House down the Hokianga Harbour. A few years ago I was amazed to learn that in the late 1859’s the House was dismantled, , put on a barge, taken out over the Hokianga Bar, down the coast several hundred miles, over the dangerous Manukau Bar to Onehunga, up a significant hill ,and rebuilt at the bottom of the street I grew up in. only to be cut into sections in the 1970’s and transported back here by truck,.I find that quite incredible.
