Paw Paw Tunnel

Today we headed to Western Maryland to find three required Cache Across Maryland geocaches. Our first target was the Paw Paw Tunnel along the C&O Canal Bike Trail. That was so cool! The Paw Paw tunnel is 3,118 feet long and the C&O Canal runs beside the footpath. We joined up with some geocaching friends for the walk. It was good that we had strong flashlights because the path was full of potholes. There were places where the water was dripping down over our heads and it was pitch dark.
(My main has my husband hotdogging on the entrance to the tunnel.)
We then headed to Fort Ritchie in Emmitsberg. What an incredible place. It is so much bigger than I expected. How have we been exploring Maryland for so many years without knowing about Fort Ritchie? Extra is of the Castle at Ft. Ritchie.
We finished our Western Maryland CAM run at Catoctin Mountain Park. When we went to the final geocache location, we ended up joining a crowd (second extra.)That was such a surprise.
