Aspen conservation, near Ardfern.
We had a wonderful day - rather too strenuous for me but quite exhilarating and breathtakingly beautiful. We are involved in this project :
https://treesforlife.org.uk/conservation-breakthrough-for-scotlandrsquos-rare-aspen-tree/
and we spent the whole day walking over hilly rocky ground to where there were accessible aspen trees sheltered against the cliff . It seemed such an unlikely place for the trees to be thriving.
There were 3 staff from Trees for Life and 4 volounteers taking root cuttings - quite a difficult process and needed J's spade wielding skills.
I so loved being in the very remote places we walked to with such great views over to Mull and Jura , and a great view of the Corryvreckan whirlpool.
I think some of the cuttings may be going to the community garden on Mull which I think I've heard blip friends Boomerang and Wanderer speaking of.
It did make me homesick - Mid Argyll is so beautiful!
I took many photos but have chosen a few here in extras.
