Donovan: Catch the Wind

Today's shot looks unremarkable, another street singer knocking out very good covers. Today though street entertainment of the highest order, this gentleman is the one and only Donovan himself. He is after all a Glasgow boy, born in the city in 1946 before moving south with his family, he played with and sang with the Beetles, he was a huge solo artist, his styles transcending his folk roots into flower power and still going strong, a beatnik, Britain's Dylan!!

So many labels but what's in a label, he is a fabulous lyricist and as I had mooted a series inspired by music, there was one that was a definite but I dint know how to shoot a single frame to allow me to use it.

Catch the Wind, is a beautiful song, I have played it hundreds of times, in the street, in pubs in halls and just at home for the twins. It always makes me think of special friends... I am sure many of you will know and love this song too, read the lyrics, close your eyes and imagine...

In the chilly hours and minutes
Of uncertainty
I want to be
In the warm hold of your lovin' mind.

To feel you all around me
And to take your hand
Along the sand,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When sundown pales the sky
I want to hide a while
Behind your smile,
And everywhere I'd look, your eyes I'd find.

For me to love you now
Would be the sweetest thing,
'T would make me sing,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

When rain has hung the leaves with tears
I want you near to kill my fears,
To help me to leave all my blues behind.

For standin' in your heart
Is where I want to be
And long to be,
Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

Ah, but I may as well try and catch the wind.

A song of a love lost, a song of the one that got away, the one who you loved so much it hurt and had to let go and to know it may never be... sometimes though maybe you have to simply believe...

I hope you enjoy my little celebrity Blip, reach out to those you love and tell them every chance you get
