Badenoch

This is looking down the Spey over Badenoch flood plains. The river has that classic geography-lesson type meanders so charactersitic of this kind of landscape, almost "OX Bowing" in places.
It would be controversial to do so now, but several miles of this reach are defended by engineered earth flood barriers. The thought is that the river is now robbed of valuable flood storage here and instead does damage where it can further downstream.
The same geography teacher tells us that a good soaking from the river now and again adds nutrients to the soil.
Another dark cloud sweeps past Creag Dubh dropping a localised shower. It's April. What do you expect?
