Good meetings

I had a lot of meetings today but they were interesting. We have a new head of our group and I really like him. He didn’t use the term “servant-leadership” but I recognized that was what he was talking about and what he wants us to do with our partners. This has the folks in my office thrilled. 

Lukoil in Russia discovered one of their turbines at their largest refinery was broken. There is only one company that knows how to fix it and that company is American and isn’t about to. They left Russia when it invaded Ukraine in 2022. This is costing 40% of the plant’s total output. Russia has managed to evade a lot of sanctions but refining equipment is rare and specialized and easier to stop. China can do it but by replacing the entire unit, not by just doing a repair.
