Duck basket

The duck basket is a breeding basket for ducks - of course - that is traditionally made from willow. It has the shape of a coal scuttle. It offers the ducks a sheltered nesting area. If you place the hive above water as shown in the photo, land predators cannot get to the nest and the flying predators are prevented from plundering the nest by the narrow entrance to the hive.
