Bane of my life
No-one on earth (not even my dear and good friend Antipodia) is ever going to convince me that there is a place for soursobs (Oxalis pes-caprae) in this world in general, and in my garden in particular.
It's an import from South Africa, a member of the oxalis family. I think some idiot unthinking person, imported them as an ornamental long long ago, and now - they've taken over the bloody world.
It's not so bad in summer - they are dormant and if you try really really hard, you can almost forget they exist. But when the rains come in autumn up they pop, and you simply have to hand weed them out. Oh, sure you can spray weed-killer around the place, but that's not going to do the real plants and flowers any good, is it!.
Soursobs spread like wildfire. And I do believe they are a noxious weed in many parts of the world, including California, Israel, and a lot of Mediterranean countries.
