A Day At A Time.

Hangin' In The Hood

Today was Speech Day. It was really good and I loved it. Even if it did go on for 2 and a half hours! And I got to wear my academic hood. One has to be properly dressed for these occasions.

The guest speaker was Bill Padley. No, I'd not heard of him either. But it turns out he is responsible for number one hits for Shayne Ward, Atomic Kitten and a whole host of other artists. He has just moved to Spain to continue his broadcasting career on the Costa. He was very good and entertained us to a song (the one he wrote for X-Factor and won an Ivor Novello Award for).

After the speeches were over, we went up to the roof terrace of the Don Carlos hotel and enjoyed some fizz and said goodbye to the students for the last time. And thence to the venue for the staff lunch. Which was a lovely do. We farewelled a couple of staff and wished them well, drank their health and then proceeded to drink everyone else's health too for the rest of the afternoon.

Just before seven o'clock I realised that Jacqui had texted to say she was on her way, so I grabbed a cab and went home to greet her.

So term is over and the holidays stretch out before me.

Not bad, eh?

Here's to your weekend and no mud at Glastonbury.
