Wood Anemone
We visited Oakley Woods this afternoon to give the dogs a run around. C is feeling a whole load better and T is free of his work commitments for a while. The Woods are the site of an ancient woodland, over planted with quick growing conifers. It is now in the ownership of the district council and managed by the local wildlife trust who have plans to increase the broadleaf component of the woodland which is a fragment of the long vanished Forest of Arden.
There are swathes of celandines and wood anemone which add colour to the woodland floor.
Returning to the village I decided to wander to look at the flooding around Charlecote Mill. The Avon splits either side of it so it is susceptible to inundation. I got caught in a heavy shower, but my reward was a lovely rainbow.
