Black side up
So this has a hull with about half the beam of a kayak with wings out either side. The centreboard is 3 feet long, about 6 inches wide and has a wing on the bottom about 2 feet long and four inches wide. The rudder is a bit smaller and also has a wing on the bottom. Once the thing gets underway it suddenly pops up out of the water and ‘flies’ on its hydrofoils. The speed is astounding and when it all goes pear shaped the wipeouts are spectacular. You’d expect this to be a young person’s sport but one of the other guys out on one of these today is definitely over 50…..
In other news the gov came down the club with me to help me with some two handed jobs, but the weather was wet, cold and windy and by the time it cleared it was too late to do much. But the rudder fairing is on and the rudder is finally fitted. Managed to lose a stainless steel spring washer in the grass. Unfortunately it was a 1/4 inch one, not easily obtained……
