one day in France

Saintes

Having lived near Saintes all this time, I’ve not really come across this bit. There was a plaque on the wall to two lads “cowardly assassinated” by Germans in 1944, and the last bit tells us “remember. Then just round the corner was a huge wisteria, just about to flower!
The trunk of it was halved and almost hollow, but it spread along the little back street, and the upper growth was obviously well pruned and trained.
As I was near the market and still waiting for Mr F to finish with his appointment, I bought some cod. The price at one stall was 19.99€ and at the next it was 32.99€ per kilo! The first stall had a long queue and the second had nobody waiting at all, I joined the queue!
