Birthday parties

This morning we decided to get out of the house. We've all been feeling tired and fuggy and we needed to get some air. We decided to go and look at a nature reserve that we've only just discovered is about four miles from here. We got there (it took ages down the country lanes) and found that the one parking space for it was filled by a car that, judging by the balloon tied to its wing mirror, was merely being used as a marker post for the birthday party at a farm further up the road. There was nowhere else nearby to park, so we returned home.

This afternoon we went to the 1st birthday party of the daughter of a friend. The theme was The Very Hungry Caterpillar. These balloons form the eponymous caterpillar. Our friend had put in a huge amount of effort into organising a perfect birthday party, and it really was impressive. It was appreciated by everyone apart from the birthday girl who, being 1, thought it was all just a bit bonkers.
