Used

My dad’s car.
This was far, far tougher than I expected. It hadn’t moved for 30+ years. Today it became somebody else’s. The silver lining is that they plan to restore it, not scrap it, and that provides me with some measure of solace.
When I look at this car all I see is his pride. I remember going with him to pick it up. A *new* car. His. After the years of struggling, skimping, scraping, skipping meals and never having any money, he’d finally made it. God, he loved this car. And before it even had 20 thousand miles on the clock, he was dead.

Now mister the day the lottery I win
I ain't ever gonna ride in no used car again
- Bruce Springsteen.

I’m sorry dad.
