After so much rain it was a pleasure to have a short walk when the sun came out although the field margins are very muddy.
Yesterday’s mystery object is a pounce pot which would be used instead of blotting paper which was relatively expensive.  Pounce traditionally was finely powdered cuttlefish bone or fine sand and would be sprinkled on ink to help it to dry.
