Gründonnerstag
Today is Maundy Thursday, called Gründonnerstag (Green Thursday) in German. The name dates back to the 13th century, but its etymological roots are unclear. It may be related to the equally ancient custom to eat green vegetables and herbs on this day.
Between two rain showers, P and I walked to the supermarket for some last-minute shopping (all shops will be closed tomorrow, on Sunday and on Monday).
I loved the fresh green of these hornbeam leaves growing along the way - a fitting blip for today.
