Proof of the pudding .....
..... or in this case the bread ... is in the eating.
I'm a creature of habit and enjoy marmalade on my bread/toast the first day and peanut butter and jam or jelly the second.
However we'd run out of marmalade but T reminded me we had a tin to make our own. I started to collect all the bits and pieces only to discover no granulated sugar and so decided to try making it with demerara and muscovado instead, with a dash or two of whisky.
It turned out wonderfully dark and set fine but I did find that I could taste the muscovado when I tried it. We shall see how it matures. I think I'll try and white/brown mix next time and perhaps even try it from scratch next time seville oranges are in season - both RB13's and Laura Muir's marmalades which I have sampled are tastier :-).
The bread itself was tasty. I enjoyed some more for lunch with mashed boiled eggs. Blasta.
I'm posting this from Station Bookshop where I'm doing my monthly shift. Think it might be a quiet afternoon.
