Compost

A hard day's work in the garden. A new compost heap in the distance is now 6 foot high. It will continue to get more and more heaped on it this year and then allowed to compost down to something the size of the heap in the foreground. This foreground heap is now the home for this year's butternut squash plants, just beginning to flower and fruit. Next year it will be garden compost and helping our plants to grow.... and die and... go onto future compost heaps. And so the circle of life continues.
