Thorpe Park
Day Two of the London trip, and out to Thorpe Park for the day, starting with breakfast at Starbucks in Staines... Ali G country. It's actually quite nice - or at least, the bit we were in is.
Thorpe Park was good - feet sore with queueing. We bottled 'Stealth' for height, speed and time reasons. The timing went all wrong when we queued over an hour for a ride that broke, then a shorter time at 'X' only to be evacuated from the indoor rollercoaster. I ended up buying a queue jumper pass for this one, 'Swarm', and wasn't disappointed. I saved a great one for last. I was shaking from the come-down after this one!
We left Thorpe Park at around 4, and planned the 35 mile journey to the O2 Arena for dinner. Sat-Nav said 90 minutes, but after a crazy three-hour drive through the heart of London, we arrived to find the car park costs £28! Luckily, a nearby retail park is free, and a short bus journey away. We played to our strengths on this one - I navigated through umpteen diversions, as Amy coped brilliantly with what can only be described as idiots and a***holes on the roads!
I was impressed by the O2 - still a cracking building, and amazing standing inside to think it's just a giant tent. Would have loved to spend longer here, walking no the roof, or taking the cable car over to the docklands. Maybe another time.
