Herculaneum.
Back blip 6.
Another sightseeing day today, this time off to Herculaneum, another casualty of the Vesuvius eruption in 79 A.D. which i found even more amazing than Pompeii. Only 25% of it has been uncovered with the modern town built on top of the uncovered ruins. It is much less touristy but aside from that it gave a clearer idea of how life used to be back in the day as some of the timbers were preserved, albeit a bit charred, meaning the 2nd storey's of some houses were in place. This was one of the decorated walls which i loved.
From there we visited the gardens at Ravello which were lovely and colourful and a complete contrast to the morning. Tonight we dined at a local restaurant where we were treated to cheeses, salami, lemon pasta and a fish dish rounded off nicely with Tiramasu and Prosecco. It's a hard life!!
