For the family

Another street photographer

This time it was taken in Elgin, Morayshire. This is me with my parents in the mid 50’s when we were on holiday visiting relatives. The hair bow has gone, but there is another kilt. Little did I know at that time, that in 1962 I would have a Christmas job in the Benzie and Millar store behind us, but it was called Arnotts by then.

I spent 6 months in Elgin between leaving school in Kidderminster and starting Nurse Training in Worcester. Home was in a village with a minimal bus service and no social life, so the night life of Elgin was more appealing, I could walk everywhere and easily got a job in the china / temp toy department over the Christmas period. I lived with my aunt who was more than delighted to have my company.

It poured with rain all morning and it was early afternoon before I got round to the Post Office. A recent find of a special book is now on its way to Cumbria to a new home. It has been in my safekeeping since 1958 and it will be in good hands for the future.

I copied todays blip to daughter R as she has never seen the picture before, asking if she thought there was a resemblance!!! She is in Saturdays blip. I think that there is.
