No hoodie for Marie
Young Marie Crean wears no hoodie, no.
Unlike 75% of the bench population. For her great-granddad was Tom Crean, who was famously tough as nails. He could wear very itchy jumpers without grimacing.
He was awarded the Albert Medal, for his 56km solo walk across the Ross ice shelf in Antarctica to rescue a comrade.
And three Polar medals.
But he is mostly remembered for the phlegm with which he could wear very very itchy coarse wool jumpers without grimacing.
And so Marie made a point of not wearing her hoodie, in memory of her great-grandad.
But she envied the other three wagons whose heads were nice and warm.
Today felt as cold as it looked. The water felt cold too. Not refreshing cold. More like Antarctic cold...
