Bridge 95

We were not needed until the afternoon so spent the morning walking by the canal. Although sunny, there was a cold wind but this did not deter our pleasure of being out.

There was a fair amount of activity on the water and there are several locks and bridges where we could stand gongoozling at the many and varied narrowboats - and a couple of elderly river cruisers.

I particularly liked this brick bridge with pedestrian tunnel. In horse-drawn days I imagine the boat would be 'walked' under while the untethered horse took the tunnel. It is one of the original bridges built by James Brindley.

The main local construction material is brick and we found an adventurous primrose growing happily 6 feet up in a brick wall (see extra)

Before long (only about a mile and a half) we turned round and headed back to the flat for a quick lunch before collecting BB for another session of sorting and planning and, exciting stuff, receiving a Sainsbury's delivery right to the door.
With one of his friends we had our evening meal there, managing to cook it in the microwave as the oven blew up shortly after turning it on...more work to do!

Having safely delivered him back to the care home, we are taking advantage of his wi-fi to blip etc before heading along the corridor to our temporary home.
