Grumpy Old Man

Spring Clean has sprung clean

Fortunately today turned out well - lots of sunshine to encourage the good folk of Oban out, wielding their litter-pickers on the second day of our Spring Clean. A group was planning to meet at Dunollie, at the north edge of Oban, to walk up into the woods to see what they could find. I went along to take some photographs and loved this family group, whose kids weren't much taller than their litter-pickers were long! When I commented on their enthusiasm, Mum asked the little girl 'Where do you put your rubbish?' and she immediately replied 'In the bin!'.

Later on I did a litter pick round some of the streets less visited by tourists and was surprised, well sort of, to fill a bag of rubbish just along one lane, Quite a large number of 'Buckfast' bottles!

Wouldn't it be good to hold a Spring Clean one year and find absolutely nothing to pick up!!

Random Quote of the day: 'Preposition: an enormously versatile part of grammar, as in 'What made you pick this book I didn't want to be read to out of for?' - Winston Churchill.
