I believe the original reason for one of the cupboards being unpanelled at the back was that it was due to contain the freezer, although there would have been time to change our minds about this after getting a discount non-integrated freezer which lives in the garage. The subsequent lack of panel means that this might be one of the mouse's escape routes, so it's been meshed-up, as will all the airbricks, though there are several holes left by the electrician and are awaiting further redevelopment, which no amount of wire wool would be able to plug.
