Cryptic

Our friend P is very clever at cryptic crosswords. I mentioned one day that I couldn’t solve cryptics at all. It must be a matter, I said, of learning the tricks and secret conventions. Either that or I’m dumb, but I don’t like that explanation. Anyway, she signed me up for these magazines that promise that I will ‘learn how to solve cryptics’. We shall see.
