The beholder's eye

A real rare find it seems!

Many. many appologies for deleting yesterday's landscape, but at the time of posting it I really didn't realise these beautiful little unidentified seedheads were so significant.
These are the seed heads of the extreamly rare Starry Clover (Trifolium stallatum).
Starry Clover flowers in June in the shingle at Shoreham beach, and one other introdced location in the UK. It is a small naturalised ground plant, and has been known in this area since 1804, and is believed to have entered Shoreham harbour in the ballast of ships.
This patch was quite large, (about 3m x 2m) and flourishing well. It is a beautiful little thing, although as it grows close to the ground and you may well miss it!
I am so pleased to have been able to photograph something so rare, always worth photographing everthing you find methinks!
