Progress
The hoarding has finally come down at the side of Middle Meadow Walk. It has been there ever since work started years ago on the renovation of the old ERI preventing us from seeing the mess that lay behind. It provided a blue backdrop for the spring daffodils and an easy canvas for omnipresent graffiti artists.
My blip shows what looks to become a vehicle entrance to the site with a carpark round the corner at the foot, although they were laying turf there so I’m not sure where the cars are going.
This drive-in was once the well known entrance to accident and emergency and the surgical unit of the hospital and must bring back memories to those of us of a certain vintage who went through the doors.
It’s been another dismal day although the rain didn’t amount to anything but it was quite windy and unpleasant. I had a coffee with lovely neighbours who are in their nineties and still going strong. There is a small group of us who all downsized from big family homes to smaller flats in Quartermile at the same time when they were renovated about 15 years ago and we tend to stick together amidst an explosion of young foreign students, mainly well off Chinese, who also live on the site.
As I write, I see a band of light horizontal rain sweeping over the Meadows. I’m glad to be back indoors.
