A Day of Many Buddhas

A day on the road driving to Kandy, the two highlights being a morning visit to the Dambulla Cave Temple - the scale of which was extraordinary - and an afternoon visit to the Botanical Gardens outside Kandy, which was extraordinary in a whole different way. While E was investigating the medicinal plant section, I went for a run to see as much of the gardens as I could. After the chaos of the city traffic (apparently worse than Colombo), it appeared as a truly beautiful oasis of calm. Arriving late and with the Queen's Hotel bumping us elsewhere, a little away from the centre, we only saw enough of Kandy to know that we'd like to go back sometime.
