Good news!
The vet rang this morning with the test results, full of apologies for the delay. The tests are clear, no nasty business! The lumps in his armpit came back as dermatitis with some ulceration. The reason for the delay was that they did an additional dye test to ascertain if there were any 'mast cells' which are associated with cancer. They found a tiny amount - nothing to worry about - although they couldn't say with 100% certainty that they would never return.
The young vet who did the operation had a check over his clean, scab-less wound this afternoon. Honestly, she looks to be about 20, maybe 21 years old, and she had a tricky operation in a tricky spot, on a dog they had had to stop the operation the week before because he was reacting badly to the anaesthetic. We're very impressed and grateful that his vets were so caring. They love their job! She took time to talk to us and explain things. She rang this morning as soon as she saw the results in, and she explained things, then sent the summary straight away, good service!
But I sincerely hope we don't have to use their service again for a very long time.
