Simple Towel Bar...or is it?
While reading a book on being a photographer, I found this to be an interesting perspective: "If necessity is the mother of invention, then passion is the lover that invades your most mundane thoughts and elevates everything to a new level of spectacle." Tony Luna
mun-dane: relating to characteristics of or concerned with commonplace; ordinary.
One of the things I love about photography is what we can find when we are looking, when we are aware, and of course when we are watching for ( and sometimes creating) the light. In thinking about the word "mundane" I found myself arguing whether or not there really is anything that is mundane, or is that description a result of our perception. As is often the case, one thought led to others and I am considering a project involving things that are considered mundane. Just considering the idea has inspired gratitude for the simplest of things.
I walk past this towel bar several times a day. The light from the window nearby shining on the bar caught my eye. Perhaps it's just a lowly towel bar, but I am glad it is there. It is especially helpful in this humid climate for drying out wet towels. It is conveniently placed near the tub so that bathers need not walk around dripping wet before drying off. It has also held the toiletry kits of visiting friends and family. Most of the time it's just waiting to serve.
Perhaps this is too much information. Maybe this very post is mundane. But, it was fun to see the light on the bar! get my camera! snap some pics,!and process them in a way to help convey passion: inspiring gratitude for even the simplest of things, and being grateful for being able to learn, grow and enjoy photography!!!
