Massive Tree

Today we had a trip out to Fountains Abbey /  Studley Royal (a National Trust property near Ripon).

We walked a total of 6.5 miles..past the lakes, abbey ruins, visitor centre (stopping for coffee) and through the deer park. Some of the deer were close by, but they were all resting!

It was mostly sunny and warm..as in this shot of an absolutely massive tree in the deer park, the base of the trunk must be about 2 metres in width!!

We stopped in Ripon on the way home for a late lunch…and I also managed to find some new walking boots in the town.
