Monday. Wash day.

Laundrettes are few and far between these day. 

When I grew up in north west England clothes washing at home was always done on a Monday morning.  This is because the factories would be shut over the weekend. You'd hopefully have enough time to dry you clothes outside before pollution started to build up at the start of a new week.
