Today’s walk
A fine walk across the nearby peat bogs today organised by the RSPB. There were eleven of us there.
The photos are of
1. The lovely dog Smudge who accompanied us
2. One of the twelve or so frogs and toads that we saw in various parts of the walk. I guess they have just come out of hibernation
3. The abandoned peat cutting equipment that used to cut peat to be taken to Sweden to fuel power stations
4. The iconic Last Bus Cafe where we had a coffee at the end of the walk. Sadly it closed during Covid and only opens now and again for walking groups but it may open again in the future.
Most enjoyable and informative.
P.S when someone asked “ How deep is your bog?” I couldn’t help thinking of this song https://youtu.be/XpqqjU7u5Yc?si=MJQtjZPm26Nvb1lr
P.P.S It is about three metres deep and since it only grew about one millimetre a year!!!
