Yesterday, Arnie was back at The View for lunch and historical talk.

This time it was about the Battles of Silkaatsnek, that took place not far from Hartebeespoort. We had never heard of it before but an interesting read, especially Private William House who was awarded the VC for bravery but sadly died before the end of the battle.

That was the extent of my reading of late as I confessed yet again at Bookclub today,. Although I was not alone as Jill is busy packing up her home of the last 48 years.

A good three and a bit hours of chat, lovely snacks, and chilled wine. Just what was needed on another extremely hot afternoon.
