Parkrun - as RD
Blip is Fitches wildlife creek in the Prom. The runners pass this each week. During my lap of the course to check it out for safety I had chance to hear the birds and see squirel, badger sets and rabbits. Also frogs spawning. (Or was it toads? I am not sure that I know the difference.) A joy before my RD stint at parkrun.
Being RD is a chance to see the run from a different perspective. I saw how kind the runners and one of the volunteers were to a dear lady who took a tumble. I also spent time at the finish and saw just how much effort all the participants put into their 'run'. So many individual achievements, reasons to celebrate, and a lot of fun on such a beautiful morning. Both the volunteers and runners were great. Jean, a friend from MAC, did her first parkwalk and was delighted that she did. Maybe this will encourage more like her from MAC to join in. Her partner is keen to be photographer next week. It will be fab to have some more professional pics. I have missed these since our M stopped doing them.
This afternoon I went for a Gig row where we returned 2 Gig boats and their equipment to the summer storage area. We did this with only 5 members; rowing in Record Reign and towing Ready. The weather had totally changed from this morning and it was a very cold wind. It was hard work, but I learned a lot.
