Moving smoke - what can it be?

We went for a walk down a local lane called The Hangings this morning, and as it dropped down we noticed some smoke at the bottom of the valley.  It seemed quite thick, and as I looked at it i realised it was moving!

As we walked further down the lane we noticed the smell of smoke that was not like a bonfire, and then we heard a noise that could only mean one thing:

A Traction Engine!  (AndrewNZ tells me that it is actually a showman's engine, which makes sense seeing how smart and showy it is!)

At that point it appeared below us, coming up the lane, so I captured the three additional blips.  As  you can see, very smart and impressive.  Not seen one of these in that lane before. 

There were a couple of horses in an adjoining field that seemed quite curious and not at all put out.
