There is Hope
Today was awesomeness.
The Development team at work needed to hire a gun....well someone with a camera at least and I'm really pleased Kelly asked me. Well, I was 3rd choice but the other 2 were pro's ao I didn't feel demeaned.
She and Steph were doing a training day for a for young volunteers working in cycling. I missed the Tour de France opening stage but it was a welcome reminder that sport is way more than the elite side of it.
My first lot of shots were classroom ones in the crap light of the boardroom. I've watched photographer James Kirby dive around like a ninja for the best angles so I tried that. I think everyone found me faintly ridiculous.
Then I went outside to do a bunch of portraits for everyone's web profiles and somehow they all seemed at ease and smiling. It helps being a clown at times. It was all such a laugh. I've delivered many courses in my time but I'm always inspired by groups of youngsters. This lot were having incredibly mature discussions and had wonderful knowledge for ones so young. Older people can be so dogmatic and set in their ways and that can be very challenging in a learning environment. I came away feeling happy with life.
Earlier in the day, I did a mega 6km swim, non-stop, in preparation for my 10km one in 2 weeks time. I'm a bit worried now!
