Just what's needed...

... after a long walk in the rain and wind on the Northumberland moors - or a cycle ride along Clennell Street, an old drovers road that led north to the Scottish border - we had a meal at Clennell Hall where we're staying.  We ate in the Reiver Room, originally a part of the pele tower dating back to the 1300s.  Apparently Border Reivers used this place as a stopping point after forays into Northern England on their return to the Scottish Border and beyond.
